Tony Wang to Enter ALA Lighting Hall of Fame in 2026
The American Lighting Association (ALA) will induct Tony Wang, Chairman and Founder of WAC Group, into the ALA Lighting Hall of Fame.
The ceremony will take place on September 29, 2026, during the ALA Annual Conference in Tucson, Arizona.
Four Decades of Lighting Innovation
Wang co-founded Wangs Alliance Corporation, known as WAC Lighting, with his wife, Tai Wang, in 1984.
Under his leadership, the company grew into WAC Group. The group now includes lighting, controls, technology and smart fan brands.
The company also operates facilities across New York, Georgia, Texas and California. In addition, it has manufacturing operations in Thailand and China.
Wang helped drive the adoption of LED technology and connected lighting. He also supported advances in intelligent controls and energy-efficient solutions.
Longstanding ALA Support
Wang has also made significant contributions to the American Lighting Association. WAC Group has maintained an active ALA membership for many years.
The company has hosted and supported ALA events. These include the Ceiling Fan Manual launch and Women in Lighting events at Lightovation.
Furthermore, Wang has encouraged employees to take part in ALA committees and volunteer leadership. His involvement has helped strengthen collaboration across the lighting industry.
Industry and Community Leadership
Wang’s influence extends beyond his business achievements. He serves on the Advisory Board of the Northwell Health Cancer Institute.
He has also supported several charitable initiatives throughout his career. In 2026, Long Island Business News recognised him as an Icon Honors recipient.
ALA President and CEO Jon Melchi praised Wang’s leadership and contribution to the industry. He said Wang’s innovation and support for ALA made him highly deserving of the honour.
Wang said he was deeply honoured by the induction. He also thanked ALA, employees, customers and partners who helped build WAC Group.
The ALA Lighting Hall of Fame ceremony will bring lighting industry leaders from across North America together to recognise Wang’s career and lasting contribution to the profession.
