Doosan Enerbility Wins Yeosu Natural Gas Power Plant Contract with Its 380MW Gas Turbine

Doosan Enerbility has once again received recognition for the reliability and technological excellence of its locally developed ultra-large gas turbine by winning the contract for the Yeosu Natural Gas Power Plant.

The company announced on March 28 that it signed a KRW 320 billion contract with Korea Western Power (KOWEPO) to supply the main components for the Yeosu plant. This includes a:

  • 380MW H-class ultra-large gas turbine
  • Steam turbine
  • Heat recovery steam generator (HRSG)
with construction scheduled for completion by 2028.

This marks the second gas turbine contract awarded to Doosan by KOWEPO, demonstrating continued confidence after 15,000+ hours of successful operation at the Gimpo Combined Heat and Power plant.

The signing ceremony was held at Signiel Seoul, attended by:

  • Jungbok Lee, President of KOWEPO
  • Yeonin Jung, Vice Chairman and COO of Doosan Enerbility
  • Seungwoo Sohn, CEO of Doosan’s Power Services Business Group

The Yeosu plant will be located in Myodo Port redevelopment zone, Yeosu city, as a 500MW eco-friendly plant to replace the aging Taean Thermal Power Plant Unit 3. It is part of South Korea’s Basic Plan for Long-Term Electricity Supply and Demand.

The agreement includes full lifecycle support, such as:

  • Emergency response measures
  • Operator training
  • Maintenance services

“We regard this as truly meaningful and are grateful to be selected again by KOWEPO,” said Yeonin Jung. “We aim to strengthen full lifecycle partnerships and promote exports of Korean gas turbines.”

Doosan developed Korea’s first large-sized gas turbine for power generation in 2019, with collaboration from 340+ local partners. The company is also developing a 400MW 100% hydrogen-fueled turbine, with a 2027 target completion.
