HOCHTIEF and Turner, through its subsidiary Dornan, have secured a major contract from NTT Global Data Centers to build a 36 MW data center in Berlin. The project strengthens the companies’ position in the growing digital infrastructure market across Europe.
The contract is worth several hundred million euros. Construction will begin in June 2026, while the first data halls are expected to open in 2028. Meanwhile, the project team aims to complete the entire facility in 2029.
Integrated Team to Deliver the Project
An integrated team from HOCHTIEF Infrastructure and Dornan will deliver the project. In addition, Dornan will provide specialist mechanical and electrical engineering expertise to support the construction process.
The development includes a three-story data center with 36 MW of capacity and a four-story office building. The team will also complete all electrical and mechanical engineering work. Furthermore, it will install advanced safety and management systems throughout the facility.
Growing Demand for Digital Infrastructure
HOCHTIEF Chief Executive Officer Juan Santamaría said the project reflects the company’s continued focus on digital infrastructure. He added that Germany continues to experience strong demand for data center capacity, creating opportunities for long-term growth and innovation.
HOCHTIEF Infrastructure CEO Peter Hingott highlighted the company’s local project development expertise. Moreover, he said the integrated delivery model combines technical knowledge with a strong understanding of the German market.
Dornan Group Managing Director Micheál O’Connor said the company is pleased to support the project. He noted that Dornan’s specialist mechanical and electrical expertise will play a key role in delivering a facility of this scale.
Strengthening HOCHTIEF’s Data Center Portfolio
The Berlin project further expands HOCHTIEF’s growing presence in the global data center sector. In 2025, the company secured €16.8 billion in new data center orders. As a result, data center projects now account for 21% of HOCHTIEF’s total order backlog.
The latest contract highlights the increasing demand for high-capacity digital infrastructure while reinforcing HOCHTIEF’s leadership in delivering complex data center developments across Europe.
