Jacobs will serve as the Owner’s Engineer for the 288 MW Palmer Wind Farm in South Australia. Tilt Renewables selected the company to support one of the region’s major renewable energy projects. As a result, the project will strengthen Australia’s clean energy portfolio and support national decarbonization goals.
The wind farm will rise near Adelaide and include 40 wind turbines, each producing 7.2 MW of power. Together, the turbines will generate 288 MW of renewable electricity. In addition, the project will connect to the grid through two new substations and a 275 kV transmission line linked to the existing Tungkillo switching station.
Jacobs to Lead Engineering Support
Jacobs will review project designs, monitor construction, support grid connections, and conduct site inspections. Furthermore, the company will help manage project risks, improve performance, and support safe operations throughout construction.
Separate contractors will handle turbine supply and installation, balance of plant activities, and grid connection works. Meanwhile, Jacobs will oversee engineering support across these work packages.
Construction Begins in 2026
Construction will start in 2026, and the team expects to finish the project in 2028.
Jacobs Executive Vice President Fiachra Ó Cléirigh said the appointment strengthens the company’s position in Australia’s growing renewable energy market. Moreover, he noted that Jacobs will combine technical expertise, commercial knowledge, and site experience to deliver the project efficiently.
Expanding Australia’s Renewable Energy Network
The Palmer Wind Farm will increase South Australia’s renewable energy capacity and improve long-term energy security. At the same time, it will help Australia move closer to its carbon reduction targets.
Jacobs continues to expand its renewable energy portfolio across Australia. The company supports major wind projects in Queensland, New South Wales, and Victoria. Additionally, it serves as the Delivery Partner for the Marinus Link interconnector, which will connect Tasmania to mainland Australia through a subsea high-voltage cable.
