Liebherr crane supports large-scale steel erection

Steel Masters, L.P. selected the Liebherr LR 1300.1 SX crawler crane for a major tilt-wall construction project in Texas. The company cited the crane’s lifting capacity, mobility and transport efficiency as key reasons for the choice.

Based in Houston, Steel Masters has more than 40 years of experience in structural steel erection, tilt-wall construction, precast installation and pre-engineered metal buildings.

Crane handles challenging tilt-wall installation

The project involved three large buildings covering 684,000 square feet. Crews installed 321 tilt-wall panels using the Liebherr crawler crane.

The site presented two major challenges: limited space for crane movement and the large size and weight of the concrete panels.

According to Tyler Drake, Crane Manager at Steel Masters, the Liebherr LR 1300.1 SX crawler crane provided the lifting performance and mobility needed to complete the work safely and efficiently.

MyLiebherr portal improves field support

The Steel Masters team also used the MyLiebherr customer portal throughout the project.

The platform provides access to digital manuals, spare parts ordering and real-time equipment information. Drake said the online manuals helped technicians quickly access crane information while working on site.

Designed for productivity and easy transport

Steel Masters selected the crane for its high lifting capacity, simple assembly and disassembly, and efficient transportation between jobsites.

The Liebherr LR 1300.1 SX crawler crane offers a maximum lifting capacity of 300 tonnes (331 U.S. tons) and a maximum hook height of 169 metres (554 feet). It also features compact transport dimensions, self-assembly capabilities and high service availability, helping contractors reduce transport costs while maintaining productivity.
