New Marieb Hall South at Florida Gulf Coast University will expand the university’s health sciences facilities
Skanska has signed an additional $85 million contract with Florida Gulf Coast University (FGCU) to construct a new academic building in Fort Myers, Florida.
The contract, valued at approximately SEK 790 million, will be included in Skanska’s U.S. order bookings for the third quarter of 2026.
New Health Sciences Facility
The full project scope includes site development and infrastructure for the new academic building.
The approximately 158,000-square-foot (14,700-square-meter) facility will include classrooms, offices, concession areas and specialized laboratory spaces.
Named Marieb Hall South, the building will become the largest academic building on the FGCU campus.
The state-of-the-art facility will focus on health sciences education. It will include specialized laboratories and a simulation suite designed to support the university’s academic programs.
Construction Underway
The project began in summer 2026 and is expected to reach completion in summer 2028.
The additional contract expands Skanska’s role in delivering the academic facility and supporting infrastructure at FGCU.
Once completed, Marieb Hall South will provide expanded learning and laboratory space for students while strengthening the university’s health sciences facilities.
