SMT Appoints Phil Battle as Managing Director for Great Britain
SMT has appointed Phil Battle as Managing Director for Great Britain, effective October 1, 2026. Battle brings more than 20 years of experience in the construction equipment industry.
In his new role, he will lead SMT’s Great Britain operations. His focus will include customer service, innovation, sustainability and business growth.
Phil Battle Brings Industry Experience
Battle joined SMT in 2020 and has held several senior leadership roles. Most recently, he served as Divisional Director for Volvo CE Product & Services.
In that position, Battle led around 350 employees across nine customer support locations. He also managed sales and service operations for Volvo Construction Equipment across Great Britain.
Throughout his career, Battle has focused on business growth, customer partnerships and team development. In addition, he has helped support business changes across the markets he has served.
Battle also serves as a Board Director of the Construction Equipment Association. There, he leads the organization’s ESG and environmental sustainability work.
Focus on Customers and Growth
As Managing Director, Battle will oversee SMT’s operations across Great Britain. He will support employees and strengthen relationships with customers.
Furthermore, he will focus on innovation, sustainability and profitable growth across SMT’s markets.
Jérôme Barioz, CEO of SMT, said Battle’s industry knowledge and customer focus make him well suited to the role. He also highlighted Battle’s commitment to developing people and supporting the wider industry.

Leadership Change at SMT
Battle succeeds Nick Allen, who has stepped down as Managing Director for Great Britain. SMT thanked Allen for his contribution and leadership and wished him success in the future.
