Tadano GTC-600-2 Makes Field Debut on Mississippi Powerline Project

Scott Powerline and Utility Equipment has introduced the new Tadano GTC-600-2 teleboom crawler crane to the field. The 60-ton crane recently completed its first job in Mississippi.

The machine was used by Chain Electric Company during construction of an eight-mile, 230 kV electric transmission line near Meridian, Mississippi. The project supports power infrastructure for a nearby data center.

One Crane for Multiple Tasks

Chain Electric needed a crane that could handle several operations on the same project. The Tadano GTC-600-2 was used to set poles, install cross arms and perform wire picks.

According to Riley Beck, Area Supervisor at Chain Electric, the crane can perform multiple tasks without requiring additional equipment. As a result, the company can improve efficiency while reducing equipment needs.

Built for Mobility and Precision

The Tadano GTC-600-2 is designed as a low-weight 60-ton teleboom crawler. It can travel on a single haul truck without being disassembled.

In addition, the crane offers strong terrain mobility and can operate on slopes. Its features include dual-hook operation, powerful winches and a standard remote control for rigging.

The crane also uses Tadano’s AML-C Rated Capacity Indicator. Furthermore, its load charts support operation on slopes of 0.5°, 1.5°, 2.5° and 4°. The system can automatically switch load charts based on the crane’s position.

Designed for Safe Operation

The GTC-600-2 features a 113.8-foot full-power boom and OPTI-WIDTH™ technology. It can also provide lifting capacity while traveling and working on slopes.

Meanwhile, a new closed-loop hydrostatic system provides smooth and precise control. Operators can also set work-zone limits for swing angle, height and radius. Soft stops help slow the crane as it approaches preset limits.

Scott Powerline Account Manager Jay Lee highlighted the crane’s reliability, mobility and service support. Scott Powerline has purchased four GTC-600-2 cranes.
