EDocuments Becomes Glider as Businesses Unite Under One Brand
Glider Technology has fully integrated EDocuments into its business. As a result, both companies now operate under the Glider brand. The change retires the EDocuments name after 25 years. Meanwhile, the EDocuments platform will become Glider Nexus.
Glider acquired EDocuments in September 2024. Since then, both businesses have gradually combined their operations, expertise and teams. This careful approach helped avoid disruption for customers and employees.
For customers, the main change is the name. Existing accounts and data will remain unchanged. In addition, customers will continue receiving day-to-day support from the same teams.
Combining Building Information Expertise
EDocuments has spent 25 years supporting structured digital handover and operations and maintenance information. This information helps building operators manage their facilities throughout their lifecycle.
Meanwhile, Glider has spent the past decade digitising some of the UK’s most complex estates. By bringing the businesses together, Glider combines handover expertise with information governance and asset management.
As a result, the combined business will focus on Asset Intelligence. This approach supports the management of building information throughout an asset’s lifecycle.
Asset Intelligence helps building teams find, trust and use the information they need. Therefore, organisations can make better decisions about building safety, compliance and performance.
Glider Nexus to Expand
Glider Nexus will become the platform customers use to manage building information. The platform will continue to develop in response to customer and industry requirements.
In addition, Glider plans to invest in the platform’s capabilities and user experience. Over time, the company intends to combine Glider Nexus with functionality from gliderbim.
Nick Hutchinson, Founder and Managing Partner of Glider, said the company deliberately took time to integrate the two businesses.
He explained that the approach allowed Glider to understand the strengths of both companies before bringing them together. As a result, customers now have one team with a broader range of skills supporting them.
Addressing the Building Performance Gap
Glider Nexus will continue supporting organisations responsible for some of the UK’s most complex estates. The platform aims to help these organisations address what Glider calls the “Performance Gap.”
This gap represents the difference between the building information an organisation holds and the information it can confidently use. In practice, better information can help teams make more informed decisions about buildings and assets.
Furthermore, many existing buildings were constructed before structured digital information became standard. Therefore, organisations often need to recover missing information or rebuild records that became fragmented after renovations and contractor changes.
By bringing EDocuments and Glider together, the company aims to strengthen building information management. Ultimately, the combined business will support the use of reliable information across the full lifecycle of complex assets.
