ABB Enhances Baldor-Reliance Food Safe Motors with Streamlined Three-Lead Electrical Connection

ABB, a global leader in electrification and automation, has upgraded its Baldor-Reliance® Food Safe stainless steel motor portfolio with a new three-lead electrical connection design. This innovation is tailored to food and beverage processing operations, offering a simplified installation, improved reliability, and enhanced workplace safety, all while integrating seamlessly with existing systems.

The new three-lead design optimizes the setup process, reducing installation time and minimizing the risk of connection errors. This leads to greater reliability and fewer operational interruptions, helping food processing facilities reduce downtime, maintenance costs, and improve productivity. The existing nine-lead configuration remains available for more complex systems or variable speed drive operations.

The Baldor-Reliance Food Safe motors, ranging from 1-5 horsepower and designed for three-phase operations, feature smooth, crevice-free stainless steel enclosures with a self-draining design to prevent food particle buildup and ensure thorough cleaning. These motors are built to meet the highest sanitary standards, boasting features like welded feet, a polished, rotatable conduit box, and smooth external drains.

Engineered from corrosion-resistant stainless steel, the motors offer IP69 ingress protection, making them ideal for high-pressure, high-temperature washdowns. The design eliminates the need for motor shrouds, allowing for full 360-degree access for inspection and cleaning.

These motors comply with NEMA Premium® efficiency standards, ensuring energy savings, making them both cost-effective and reliable. Additionally, they are backed by a three-year warranty, demonstrating ABB’s commitment to quality.
