DEWALT POWERSHIFT Cordless Concrete Tools

DEWALT POWERSHIFT™ is changing concrete work by offering cordless equipment designed to improve productivity, reduce downtime, and replace traditional gas-powered tools.

A New Era of Cordless Concrete Equipment

At World of Concrete in January 2024, DEWALT introduced DEWALT POWERSHIFT™, a new line of cordless, lightweight equipment built specifically for concrete professionals.

The system uses a 554Wh battery platform, designed to deliver the power needed for demanding concrete applications.

Concrete work requires accuracy, timing, and consistency. Delays or equipment issues can affect the final result. DEWALT POWERSHIFT™ aims to help crews complete jobs correctly the first time.

Designed Around Contractor Needs

The DEWALT POWERSHIFT™ system was developed after years of jobsite research and customer feedback.

DEWALT teams spent time observing concrete workers to understand their challenges and identify areas where tools could improve.

“We were out on the jobsite seeing users work, and we would hear, ‘Couldn’t you help us with this?’” said Ricky Cacchiotti, Director of Product Development and General Manager for DEWALT POWERSHIFT™.

Earlier battery-powered equipment could not meet expectations for power, runtime, and comfort. Advances in battery technology allowed DEWALT to develop a solution that matched professional needs.

Reducing the Challenges of Gas Equipment

Many contractors depend on gas-powered tools for concrete work. However, these tools often require regular maintenance, fuel storage, and engine care.

Gas equipment may need oil changes, filters, and frequent operation to stay reliable.

DEWALT POWERSHIFT™ tools are designed for easier operation. Workers can insert a charged battery and begin working without fuel handling or engine maintenance.

“[DEWALT POWERSHIFT™] tools are always ready with a charged battery,” said Dave Veprek, Vice President of Product Development for Batteries and Chargers.

Quieter Jobsites and Better Communication

One major advantage of DEWALT POWERSHIFT™ equipment is reduced noise.

Traditional gas tools can create high noise levels that make communication difficult on job sites.

The quieter operation allows crews to communicate more easily. It also helps create a better environment for training new workers.

“When you can communicate at a normal level with them, you can flatten the learning curve,” Cacchiotti said.

Lower noise levels may also improve safety. Workers can better hear equipment movement, warnings, and instructions during concrete placement.

Longer Runtime and Less Downtime

Some DEWALT POWERSHIFT™ tools, including the vibrator and power screed, provide longer runtime compared with gas alternatives.

The battery system also removes the need for fuel storage and refilling during work.

Each tool comes with two batteries and a charger. The batteries can fully charge in less than an hour, helping crews maintain continuous operation.

DEWALT says the POWERSHIFT™ system helps reduce costs linked to fuel, mechanical failures, and missed maintenance.

By bringing cordless technology to concrete applications, DEWALT POWERSHIFT™ offers contractors a cleaner, quieter, and more efficient way to work.
