Stantec has signed a definitive agreement to acquire Page, strengthening its position in the U.S. market. With this move, Stantec acquires Page architecture firm and is set to become the second largest architecture practice in the United States, just behind Gensler.
The acquisition aligns with Stantec’s broader growth strategy and significantly expands its footprint across key regions and sectors.
Expansion strategy drives Stantec acquisition
The deal forms part of Stantec’s 2024–2026 Strategic Plan. Specifically, the company aims to grow in high-demand sectors and geographic markets. As Stantec acquires Page architecture firm, it will increase its U.S. workforce to approximately 13,500 employees.
Moreover, the acquisition expands Stantec’s Buildings practice by 35%. It also nearly doubles its presence in Texas, a key growth region for infrastructure and commercial development.
Strengthening capabilities across sectors
Through this acquisition, Stantec enhances its expertise in several critical sectors. These include:
- Advanced manufacturing
- Data centers
- Healthcare infrastructure
- Cleanroom and fabrication facilities
In addition, the combined firm will strengthen capabilities in mission-critical projects, aviation, academic institutions, and commercial developments.
According to CEO Gord Johnston, the decision reflects a shared vision:
“Page is a respected firm with strong design excellence. This acquisition supports our long-term growth and expands our ability to serve clients globally.”
Page’s legacy and global footprint
Founded in 1898, Page brings over a century of experience to the partnership. Although headquartered in Washington, D.C., the firm operates in more than 20 cities worldwide, including major hubs like New York, Houston, and San Francisco.
Importantly, Page and Stantec already share a collaborative history. For instance, both firms worked together on healthcare infrastructure projects in Florida, demonstrating strong operational alignment.
Industry impact and future outlook
As Stantec acquires Page architecture firm, the move signals continued consolidation in the architecture and engineering sector. It also reflects growing demand for integrated design services across complex infrastructure projects.
CEO Thomas McCarthy emphasized the strategic value of the deal, noting that the partnership will accelerate growth and expand global influence.
The transaction is expected to close after regulatory approvals. Once completed, it will further strengthen Stantec’s competitive position in North America and beyond.
