Madrid Formula 1 Circuit Completed in Record Time

ACCIONA has completed the Madrid Formula 1 circuit in just 12 months, marking a major milestone ahead of the Spanish Formula 1 Grand Prix, scheduled for September 11–13, 2026. The project was delivered by a consortium led by ACCIONA (60%) and Eiffage Construcción (40%).

Madrid Formula 1 Circuit Ready for Grand Prix

Located near IFEMA-Valdebebas, the 5.4-kilometer circuit features 22 turns and will become Madrid’s new home for Formula 1. The project required extensive engineering and careful coordination because the track had to integrate with the city’s urban infrastructure and the IFEMA exhibition grounds.

Moreover, the consortium completed the project in a record 12 months, making it one of the fastest deliveries for a sports infrastructure project of this scale.

Sustainable Design and Advanced Infrastructure

The Madrid Formula 1 circuit incorporates high-performance asphalt, integrated mobility solutions, and urban restoration measures that allow the surrounding area to return to normal after each race. In addition, the project includes sustainable technologies designed to reduce its carbon footprint.

Unlike many traditional Formula 1 venues, the circuit offers easy access through public transportation. It also allows organizers to remove temporary race facilities quickly after each event, improving flexibility and minimizing disruption.

Construction Balanced with Daily Operations

Throughout construction, the consortium coordinated multiple engineering and construction disciplines to keep the project on schedule. At the same time, it ensured that IFEMA’s regular exhibitions and events continued without major interruptions.

Furthermore, the project team prioritized efficient resource use, reduced environmental impact, controlled construction noise, and integrated the circuit into its urban surroundings.

Strengthening ACCIONA’s Infrastructure Portfolio

With the completion of the Madrid Formula 1 circuit, ACCIONA reinforces its position as a leader in delivering large-scale international infrastructure projects. The company says the project reflects its commitment to innovation, sustainability, and technical excellence while creating a lasting legacy for Madrid’s growing role in global motorsports.
