Jacobs has been selected by Scottish & Southern Electricity Networks Transmission (SSEN Transmission) to support the modernization and security of the UK electricity grid.
Supporting a Smarter Energy Network
Jacobs has secured positions on multiple strategic frameworks focused on operational technology cybersecurity, digital services, and engineering solutions.
The work will support the north of Scotland’s electricity transmission network.
The combined frameworks have a potential value of more than $1 billion and aim to improve grid resilience while supporting renewable energy integration.
Strengthening Grid Cybersecurity
Jacobs, including its PA Consulting business, has been appointed to SSEN’s Digital and Operational Technology (OT) Cyber Security Frameworks.
The company will help design and secure digital systems used across substations.
The work includes cyber-by-design principles, network protection, and real-time threat monitoring.
These measures will help protect critical infrastructure and support reliable energy operations.
Driving Digital Transformation
Through the Digital Services Framework, Jacobs will deliver AI-enabled digital and data solutions.
The technology will help SSEN improve asset management, network planning, and operational efficiency.
The services will support SSEN’s RIIO-T3 transformation program, which focuses on strengthening the energy network and enabling the transition to cleaner energy.
Integrated Approach for Future Energy Needs
Jacobs Chair and CEO Bob Pragada said energy systems are becoming more connected and data-driven.
He explained that combining cybersecurity, digital expertise, and engineering solutions is essential for building stronger infrastructure.
The company will bring together specialists from energy, digital, data, and advisory teams to support SSEN’s long-term goals.
Building Resilient Infrastructure
The partnership reflects the growing need for secure and intelligent energy networks.
As renewable energy expands, utilities require stronger digital foundations to manage complex systems.
Jacobs said the frameworks demonstrate its ability to deliver large-scale infrastructure solutions that combine technology, cybersecurity, and engineering.
