ACS and HOCHTIEF Retain Position as World’s Largest International Contractor

ACS and HOCHTIEF Group have retained the top position in the ENR Top 250 International Contractors ranking, reinforcing their status as the world’s largest international contractor.

Engineering News-Record (ENR) placed the group first in its latest ranking. This marks the eighth time in the past 10 years that ACS and HOCHTIEF have secured the top position.

Strong financial performance supports ranking

The recognition follows strong operating and financial results from HOCHTIEF. In 2025, the company recorded sales of EUR 38.2 billion and reached a record backlog of EUR 72.5 billion.

Growth in major strategic sectors helped drive the results. These include data centers, digital infrastructure, energy, critical minerals, defense, healthcare and sustainable transportation.

The group’s diverse portfolio also highlights its ability to deliver projects across multiple stages. Its companies develop, finance, design, construct, operate and maintain infrastructure throughout the project lifecycle.

Global infrastructure strategy

ACS and HOCHTIEF continue to expand their presence across key international markets. Their operations span North America, Australia and Europe, with a growing focus on strategic infrastructure sectors.

HOCHTIEF employs around 62,000 people and generated EUR 38.2 billion in sales in 2025. Through businesses including Turner, CIMIC and FlatironDragados, the group maintains major positions in construction and infrastructure markets across the U.S., Australia and Europe.

Meanwhile, the group’s engineering expertise, digital systems and supply chain capabilities support its strategy for long-term growth.

The latest ENR ranking therefore strengthens ACS and HOCHTIEF’s position as a major global infrastructure partner, particularly in sectors expected to drive future investment.
