John Deere Opens Public Voting for “Building America” Excavator Contest

John Deere has opened public voting for its “Building America” Excavator Contest. The initiative invites people across the United States to choose the grand prize winner.

Voting is open from August 17 through August 31, 2026. The public can review the finalists and cast their votes through the official contest website.

Three finalists compete for the grand prize

The contest features three finalists from construction businesses across the country:

  • Caleb Lovette of Wolf Creek Land Co. in Tennessee
  • Nick Long of Chamberlain Backhoe Service in California
  • Patrick Rector of Rector Excavating Inc. in Kentucky

Each finalist has shared their story and vision for building stronger communities. In addition, they explained how a new John Deere midsize excavator could support their future work.

Winner to receive a new John Deere excavator

The winner will receive a new John Deere midsize excavator. John Deere will announce the winner on September 8, 2026.

The company created the John Deere Building America Excavator Contest to recognize contractors and equipment operators. These professionals play an important role in developing communities and maintaining essential infrastructure.

Inspired by America’s 250th anniversary, the contest celebrates construction professionals across the country. Furthermore, participants were asked to explain how they are helping build America today.

They also shared how a new John Deere midsize excavator could help them tackle future projects.

“The three finalists represent the dedication, craftsmanship and entrepreneurial spirit that drive the construction industry forward every day,” said Amy Asselin, global marketing manager, excavators, John Deere.

Meanwhile, public voting gives people an opportunity to support their preferred finalist. The campaign also highlights the contribution of contractors and operators to America’s infrastructure and communities.
