Turner Projects Honored at 2025 DBIA Awards for Design and Collaboration

Two major projects by Turner Construction Company have received National Awards of Merit at the 2025 Design-Build Institute of America (DBIA) Awards. The honored projects are the California Firefighters Memorial Expansion in Sacramento, California, and the United Airlines Flight Training Center Building H in Denver, Colorado. Both were praised for innovation, strong collaboration, and successful delivery of complex project demands.

Honoring California’s Fallen Firefighters

The California Firefighters Memorial Expansion pays tribute to the bravery and sacrifice of the state’s firefighters. The project, led by the California Fire Foundation, expanded the memorial’s capacity, improved accessibility, and enhanced the visitor experience. Turner worked closely with families of fallen firefighters and the Foundation to ensure dignity and respect in every design element.
The memorial now features bronze relief panels illustrating key moments in California firefighting history and digital storytelling elements that preserve these stories for future generations.

United Airlines Flight Training Center – Building H

To meet increasing demand for pilot training—driven by the addition of 75 new Boeing 737 Max and Airbus A321neo aircraft—United Airlines partnered with Turner + BRPH to deliver a modern training facility on a fast-track schedule.
Building H spans 157,000 square feet and includes:

  • 12 flight simulators
  • 12 fixed training devices
  • Classrooms and support spaces

Two simulator bays were completed within just 16 months, all while pilot training continued without disruption—showcasing the project’s efficient planning and execution.
