DPR Construction Named #1 Best Place to Work in the Bay Area

San Francisco, CADPR Construction, one of the nation’s largest and most respected technical builders, has been officially recognized as the #1 Best Place to Work in the Bay Area and the #1 Best Place to Work for Wellness among companies with over 500 employees. The recognition comes from the San Francisco Business Times and Silicon Valley Business Journal, marking a significant achievement for the employee-owned general contractor.

The Best Places to Work awards celebrate exceptional workplace cultures based on confidential surveys filled out by employees. The survey evaluates key factors such as team dynamics, trust in leadership, and internal communication. DPR Construction earned the top spot in the large company category with an overall score of 89.75, a wellness score of 87.84, and a benefits score of 93—showcasing the company’s commitment to employee well-being and satisfaction.

One DPR employee shared in the survey, “The work-life balance is excellent. We are never asked or put in a position where we must sacrifice our personal life and family for work.”

This year, DPR also received the distinct honor of being named the Best Place to Work for Wellness, highlighting its dedication to health offerings, employee engagement, and a culture of well-being.

“What sets DPR apart? We work differently,” said Chris Strock, Bay Area co-business unit leader at DPR. “We value our people, work to ensure they feel safe, individually respected and empowered to speak up. The result is a workplace where people not only feel that they belong but also have fun doing complex, purposeful work.”

DPR is known for offering industry-leading compensation and benefits, including those for its skilled trades teams. In addition to traditional benefits such as health and life insurance, the company provides holiday pay, education assistance, free counseling services, and family planning support. The firm also invests heavily in fostering belonging, mental health awareness, and safety-first practices.

Kevin Chen, DPR’s Bay Area co-business unit leader, emphasized the company’s people-first approach: “We have worked hard to listen to employees over the years and break free of norms of the construction industry to offer our team what we think is an environment where they can thrive. This recognition is a direct result of our people and our culture—one built through conversations, connections, and daily actions that reflect who we are and what we believe.”

As DPR continues to grow its presence in the Bay Area and beyond, this recognition stands as a testament to its employee-centric culture, innovative leadership, and unwavering commitment to creating a safe, inclusive, and empowering workplace.
