Jacobs has been appointed to Yorkshire Water’s artificial intelligence (AI) services framework, helping the utility expand data-driven solutions and strengthen water service resilience.
Supporting the Future of Water Management
Jacobs will provide digital and AI consulting services to support Yorkshire Water’s operations.
The five-year framework has an estimated value of up to $45 million (£32 million).
The partnership comes as the U.K. water sector prepares for Asset Management Period 8 (AMP8).
During this period, water companies are increasing investment in digital tools, AI, and data capabilities. These investments aim to improve efficiency, meet regulatory needs, and support long-term infrastructure resilience.
Developing Practical AI Solutions
Under the framework, Jacobs will work with Yorkshire Water to create scalable digital products.
The solutions will support better decision-making, asset performance, and operational efficiency.
Jacobs will use its experience in water systems and digital consulting to apply AI across the asset lifecycle.
This includes planning, operations, maintenance, and performance improvement.
Moving AI Into Daily Operations
Jacobs Executive Vice President Amer Battikhi said utilities are moving AI beyond testing and into everyday use.
“Utilities are increasingly focused on moving artificial intelligence from testing environments into day-to-day operations,” Battikhi said.
He added that the framework will help Yorkshire Water use data-driven tools to improve reliability and service delivery.
Building a Data-Driven Water Sector
Yorkshire Water has already invested in its data platform and internal data science capabilities.
The company is now moving into a new phase of AI adoption focused on real operational deployment.
Jacobs will help scale these solutions across the business.
The company supports water utilities worldwide through digital, engineering, and data services. Its work focuses on improving infrastructure resilience, compliance, and customer outcomes.
Improving Infrastructure Through Innovation
The partnership highlights the growing role of AI in managing critical infrastructure.
By combining engineering expertise with advanced digital tools, Jacobs and Yorkshire Water aim to create smarter and more reliable water services.
