The Steel Erectors Association of America (SEAA) has honored Carrie Gulajan, President of Construction Insurance Agency, Inc., with the prestigious William Davis Service Award. She received the recognition during the President’s Dinner at the 2026 Convention & Trade Show in Kansas City, Missouri.
The William Davis Service Award recognizes individuals who demonstrate exceptional dedication, leadership, and long-term service to the steel construction industry. Unlike annual awards, SEAA presents this distinction only when a candidate’s contributions warrant the honor.
Decades of Service to SEAA
Gulajan has supported SEAA for decades through leadership, mentorship, and active participation in numerous initiatives. She has served on the Board of Directors since 2011 and has played a significant role in advancing the association’s mission.
In addition, she has chaired the Events Committee, helping organize conventions, golf tournaments, and fundraising activities. She has also contributed to the Strategic Planning and Finance Committees, helping shape the association’s long-term direction.
Furthermore, Gulajan currently serves as President-Elect and is scheduled to become SEAA President in 2028.
A Historic Achievement
The William Davis Service Award adds to a growing list of achievements for Gulajan. In 2015, she became the first woman to receive SEAA’s Person of the Year Award.
Now, she has made history again as the first woman to earn the William Davis Service Award. This milestone reflects her lasting impact on the association and the broader steel construction industry.
Leadership Beyond the Boardroom
Even before joining the SEAA Board, Gulajan actively supported safety and training programs. Her professional background in construction safety, risk management, and specialty insurance services has enabled her to provide valuable expertise to industry professionals.
Moreover, colleagues recognize her for her willingness to mentor others, solve challenges, and contribute wherever needed. As a result, she has earned a reputation as a trusted advisor and respected leader.
Former SEAA President and current Board member Stephen Burkholder praised her dedication, noting that her commitment, industry knowledge, and relationship-focused approach have strengthened both SEAA and its members.
Additional 2026 Award Recipients
SEAA also recognized two industry leaders with the 2026 Eddie Award:
- Drew Heron, Director of Deem Structural Services
- Jason McElrath, President of MP Specialty Insurance
The Eddie Award honors individuals who demonstrate outstanding leadership, dedicated service, and strong commitment to SEAA’s mission and values.
