Linde MH launches innovative electric counterbalanced trucks with load capacities up to 2.0 tons

Linde Material Handling (MH) is replacing its existing range of electric forklifts with 26 new three- and four-wheel models offering load capacities from 1.0 to 2.0 tons. These trucks have been designed to provide enhanced ergonomics and performance, with integrated lithium-ion batteries playing a significant role in these improvements.

The new models cater to diverse industries, including beverage stores, distribution centers, food production, and metalworking shops. They are suitable for a wide range of applications, from light transport tasks to demanding multi-shift heavy-load operations, as well as working in confined spaces or challenging environmental conditions, such as extreme temperatures, dust, and dirt.

To address varying customer needs, the trucks come in three or four-wheel configurations and offer a choice between integrated lithium-ion batteries or trough batteries. Operators can switch between lead-acid and lithium-ion batteries using the plug-and-play principle or continue using existing batteries. The models are also designed to support fuel cell technology.

The Xi range (Xi10 to Xi20) includes 12 models with integrated lithium-ion batteries and load capacities of 1.0 to 2.0 tons. These trucks combine a 90-volt lithium-ion battery with a synchronous reluctance motor, enabling speeds of up to 20 km/h and lifting/lowering speeds 20% higher than competitors. The models also feature a thermal management system to ensure consistent motor power, even during continuous heavy operation.

The E14 to E20 models rely on proven 48-volt lithium-ion battery technology and maintenance-free asynchronous motors for high performance. “In terms of performance, the new forklifts represent a considerable improvement over previous models and also clearly raise the bar in comparison to the competition,” said Torsten Rochelmeyer, Senior Director Strategy & Solution Portfolio at Linde Material Handling.

Driver-focused: User-friendliness Creates an Attractive Workplace

“Filling vacancies in logistics and warehousing is becoming increasingly challenging,” says portfolio manager Torsten Rochelmeyer, emphasizing the importance of the new Linde electric forklifts in helping recruit and retain employees. Designed with drivers in mind, these forklifts feature a spacious and ergonomic workplace to enhance comfort and productivity.

The Linde Xi10 – Xi20 models utilize an integrated lithium-ion battery, allowing for a larger entry step, a 30% bigger footwell, and increased headroom, making operation comfortable even for taller drivers. A new heating system offers 60% better performance, while an optional air conditioning system integrated into the overhead guard ensures comfort in all climates.

Driver comfort is further enhanced by damping technology in the axles and lift mast, reducing shocks and vibrations to prevent fatigue. An optional Linde Steer Control system replaces the traditional steering wheel with a mini-wheel or joystick, enabling steering with minimal finger movements, adding both convenience and relief.

Occupational Safety: A Major Focus

Safety is a top priority in the design of Linde’s new electric forklifts. Forklift functions are tailored to protect both drivers and their working environments. The Linde Load Assist system, which automatically adjusts lifting and tilting functions based on load weight and height, is a standard feature to prevent tipping accidents.

For added protection, electronic safety belt monitoring can be integrated into the cabin, alongside a door monitoring system to ensure seatbelt use when necessary. Linde Reverse Assist Radar, exclusive to Linde, detects both moving and stationary objects behind the truck. In case of danger, it applies the brakes to stop the vehicle safely.

Additionally, AI-based safety assistance systems such as the Linde Reverse Assist Camera and Front Assist Camera distinguish between people and objects. These systems can actively intervene by reducing speed to prevent accidents, ensuring accident-free logistics.
