John Deere Expands Tillage Lineup with Next-Gen CC Series and MT Series
Modern farming requires tools that work faster, last longer, and seamlessly integrate into the future of autonomous agriculture. Recognizing this need, John Deere (NYSE: DE) has officially completed its tillage portfolio with the launch of two innovative machines: the Minimum Tillage (MT) Series In-Line Ripper and the company’s first-ever Coulter Chisel (CC) Series.
Both high-productivity tools are designed to maximize field efficiency, reduce input costs, and prepare today’s growers for the next wave of precision ag. Farmers looking to see these machines in person can catch them on display at the upcoming Farm Progress Show in Boone, Iowa, from August 27–29.
The New CC Series: Speed and Power in Primary Tillage
Marking John Deere’s official entry into the coulter chisel market, the CC Series is engineered to handle heavy crop residue while managing deep soil penetration. Built for high-speed primary tillage, the CC Series operates at an impressive working speed of 7 mph at a depth of 7 inches.
“The new CC Series has been developed to give farmers the ability to tackle primary tillage needs faster than before,” explains Michael Porter, John Deere go-to-market manager for tillage equipment. “With working speeds of 7 mph, this is a highly productive primary tillage tool.”
Key Features of the CC Series:
- Versatile Configurations: Available in 5 distinct models featuring 11, 13, 19, 21, or 25 standards set at 15-inch spacing.
- Heavy-Duty Residue Management: Uses 22-inch straight coulters spaced at 7.5 inches, featuring a TruSet™ down pressure standard that reaches a robust 1,600-pound trip force.
- Lower Operating Costs: Compared to older legacy models like the 2720 or 2730 Combination Rippers, the CC Series requires less tractor horsepower, translating directly to lower fuel and input costs.
- ProFinish™ Leveling System: Offers customizable configurations for an optimal field finish tailored to your regional soil type and crop residue.
The MT Series: Sustainable Deep Tillage with 50% More Longevity
For operations focused on fighting soil compaction without disrupting the surface, the updated MT Series In-Line Ripper offers an advanced, low-disturbance solution. Reaching depths of 12 to 16 inches, the MT Series promotes healthy root systems and higher crop yields while supporting sustainable, conservation-oriented land management.
To keep operators running during tight seasonal windows, John Deere equipped the MT Series with a proprietary CADEN Edge wear coating. This breakthrough extends the life expectancy of critical parts by 50%, drastically reducing maintenance intervals and mid-season part replacements.
The MT Series offers versatile hitching configurations to fit any fleet:
- 5-Standard Model: Available strictly with a durable, integrated mainframe integral hitch.
- 7, 9, and 11-Standard Models: Available with either a drawn or integral hitch option, perfect for large row-crop or 4WD tractors lacking a 3-point hitch.
Precision Ag and Autonomy-Ready Farming
True to John Deere’s technology-forward ecosystem, both the CC and MT Series are built to bridge the gap between traditional iron and digital farming.
TruSet Active™ Integration
All CC Series models and MT Series drawn models come standard with TruSet Active™, enabling operators to adjust tillage depth on the fly directly from the tractor cab. Data from the field is wirelessly synced to the operator’s John Deere Operations Center via a JDLink® connection, providing a highly accurate, real-time tillage documentation map.
Factory-Built for Autonomy
For early adopters preparing to transition to driverless fields, John Deere is making autonomy a baseline feature. The CC Series (alongside the 2430 chisel plow) comes autonomy-ready straight from the factory.
Each unit is pre-equipped with:
- A factory-installed receiver mast
- Implement receiver harnessing
- Specialized safety and operational lighting packages
To activate full autonomy, owners simply need to add a universal StarFire® 7500 receiver.
“This technology ensures that farmers can seamlessly integrate advanced autonomous solutions into their operations,” says Porter. “It increases efficiency and productivity while reducing the need for manual adjustments and monitoring.”
